Debra Shore

Commissioner, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

Debra Shore is a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, elected to a six-year term in 2006.

Debra was previously the founding editor of Chicago WILDERNESS Magazine, a quarterly publication devoted to the rare nature of the Chicago region. Debra is a founding board member of Friends of the Forest Preserves and has served on the board of the Illinois Environmental Council. She is currently a member of the University of Chicago Women’s Board and a board member of the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute in Washington, DC.

She graduated from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland majoring in philosophy and visual arts. She has also earned a Master of Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Columbia College in Chicago.

Ms. Shore was appointed to the board of the Great Lakes Protection Fund in September of 2009.
