Governors' Priorities Areas of Concern

Team members explored new federal tax credits and multi-state tax exemptions to leverage federal commitments and lower the "bill" for activities identified under the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration's Strategy to Restore and Protect the Great Lakes (the Strategy). The team’s resulting document outlines a legislative plan aimed at garnering earmarked support for investment in water and wastewater infrastructure via federal tax credit bonds and/or a regional renewal bond fund program. The team presented their final recommendations at a high-level listening session in Washington, D.C. attended by Congressional staffers and environmental finance experts. Next steps in this work could include meetings with representatives of relevant Congressional committees.
