General Guidelines |
This project examines how efficiency-oriented pricing could be employed in the Great Lakes region as one of many conservation practices, and how pricing can be linked to regional water management needs with respect to the availability of water for human uses and impacts on the Great Lakes ecosystem.
Despite the perception of abundance, certain sub-watershed areas within the Great Lakes basin contain sensitive habitats and human populations that are particularly sensitive to water supply and, as a consequence, more vulnerable to water degradation. In those areas, water conservation can make a critical difference in ecological and public health. |
