This team developed basin-wide water conservation and efficiency goals to help shape state programs under the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Sustainable Water Resources Agreement. The goals were unanimously adopted by the Great Lakes Governors and Premiers after a multi-stakeholder review. They encourage: (1) programs aimed at long-term sustainable water use; (2) supply and demand management to promote efficient use and conservation of water resources; (3) improved monitoring and standardized data reporting among State and Provincial water conservation and efficiency programs; (4) science, technology and research, and; (5) education programs and information sharing for all water users. The team used these goals to inform a set of draft water conservation and efficiency objectives for the state of Wisconsin.
