Laura Bishop

Laura Bishop is a former Fortune 50 Chief Sustainability Officer and state environmental regulator with deep experience driving growth and transformation through sustainability. She is currently a Senior Fellow in Sustainability at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Previously, she served as Commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Chair of the Minnesota Climate Change Subcabinet and Advisory Council, where she led the development of the state’s Climate Action Framework. Earlier in her career, Laura spent more than 15 years as Chief Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Officer at Best Buy, where she oversaw sustainability strategy, environmental compliance, supply chain sustainability, social impact, philanthropy, and government relations. She serves on several corporate and nonprofit boards focused on climate and energy, where she brings expertise in operational excellence, transformation, and impact.
A dedicated Midwesterner, Laura holds a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Michigan, Gerald Ford School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Laura Bishop was appointed to the board of the Great Lakes Protection Fund in September of 2025.
